Business English Lesson – English for Presentations – Transition Phrases and Topics

This quick Business English Lesson will look at phrases that can be used when finishing one topic and moving on to the next item you want to talk about (transition phrases). Transitions are an important part of your presentation because they let the audience know that you are finished with what you are talking about and that you are moving on to talk about something else. We will also look at some phrases that you can use to tell the audience what you are going to talk about, so that they are prepared before you start giving the details about the topic.

Phrases that can be used to signal the end of the topic and move to new topic:

  • Let’s start with (you would use this to start your first topic)
  • That covers… now we will look at…
  • Let’s leave that and move onto…
  • That’s all I will say about…
  • I think that covers…
  • let’s leave that …

Phrases that can be used to signal the next topic:

  • I’d like to move onto… (indicates that you are moving to the next topic)
  • From here we will go to…
  • Now we come to…
  • That brings us to…
  • let’s move on to …
  • now we come to …
  • that brings us to …
  • let’s get back to …

These business English transition phrases for presentations will help you to introduce your next topic in a better way as well as allow you to easily move onto your next topic while at the same time letting the audience know what you will talk about.
